GC5A08 - Pinnacle Rock Cache

Wow! This one is right up there with the views from the Dolly Sods caches, Chimney Top, etc. Not quite there, but a very very impressive view and a much wilder adventure to get to the cache. Not quite the adventure that I'm sure South Peak Summit cache at Seneca Rocks must be, but darn near as dangerous. Some guy took his kid out there - INSANITY! I took a friend this time (last time I DNF'd it I was by myself and a bobcat almost ate me). Shimmied up a crack to the top of the monolith to a breathtaking view. The photos do not even remotely do this one justice. Then to get on out to the cache (about 120' from where you emerge) !!!! I suppose I could've walked across the unlevel 2' wide wet, slimy rock at 90' in the air, but I guess I like being alive too much. So I crawled on all fours to ground zero for safety (if that's what you call it. Safety would've been staying in the car).

I highly recommend this one for MAGPI Nation. I know without a doubt that 89SC will be there asap. It is his kinda cache. I wish he would not act like me though (doing it solo) and take along someone. I know that wvhunter74 wants to do it on a Wednesday or a Sunday and if PilotJ is on a stretch off of work he will go. This is a destination cache.

You might be able to get to the top of the crack, let SSPG retrieve the cache and bring it to you to log. Don't write it off entirely. However, the "shimmy" up the crack does involve a couple of places where you have to pull your body up over 5-6' high vertical obstacles using 4 cm grooves in the sides of the rocks. The bobcat hole is right at the top of one of said obstacles which makes it twice as obstacle-aly. The view at the top of the crack is terrific.

I would. It isn't that far from northern Ohia. Especially when you're in Boone County hiding friggin' hard to get to caches every other weekend anyway
